Our History   

The Higher Institute of Petroleum and Logistics (HIPAL) is a private university in Cameroon that was founded in 2014. Authorized by the Ministry of Higher Education and affiliated with the University of Bamenda, HIPAL offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, we are a great option for students who want to pursue a career in the petroleum, logistics, or engineering industries. The university offers high-quality education and training, and it has a strong focus on practical training. As the leading university in the field of Petroleum, Logistics and Engineering, the higher institute of logistics and petroleum (HIPAL) is out to improve the performance of the University not only on building on courses and programs quality, but also create an appropriate academic and social environment within the context of modern technology to produce graduates who are highly skilled. As a result, sustained efforts are being made in investing in a number of infrastructures such as laboratories, classrooms, equipment, residential and office accommodation for both staff and students to enhance teaching and learning.

As an institution, we are committed to excellence in teaching and in an ever-increasing manner, to research and development. Increasingly we are judging our performance in the context of challenging benchmarks, thinking more globally, establishing international relationships with some leading universities, organizations and generally making the University an exciting academic place to be. The university currently has 4 schools with different undergraduate and masters’ programs. The schools are; the school of Engineering & Technology, the school of Maritime Studies, school of Business, the school of Finance and Management and the Graduate School of Management and research. The School of Engineering & Technology has 6 undergraduate & 4 Master programs which are; Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Applied Geology / Mining Engineering, Petroleum Logistics, Telecommunications. The school of Maritime Studies has 3 Programs; Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science, HND /B.SC in Ports & Shipping Management, Master of Science in Ports & Shipping Management. The school of Business, school of Finance and Management has 7 Higher National Diploma (HND) programs and 6 BSc programs and the Graduate School of Management currently has 7 MBA and 4 M.Sc. programs

OUR MISSION

The Higher Institute of Petroleum & Logistics is a broad-based private higher education institution approved by the Ministry of Higher Education. Its main purpose is to encourage, promote and facilitate the advancement of academic, professional and technical achievements for all individuals without distinction to origin, sex or religion.

Provide academic, professional, technical and vocational skills to students and prepare them to meet personal as well as national objectives.

Contribute to national development by training the manpower needed for the advancement of our agricultural, industrial and tertiary sectors of the economy.

Equip students with theoretical and practical skills that can enable them to function as self-employers, employees, or as managers of their own enterprises.
